Appeals Court to rule on Ablakwa vs. Rev. Kusi Boateng contempt case

The Court of Appeal is set to deliver a ruling on a defamation suit filed by Reverend Victor Kusi Boateng, who seeks to restrain Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Member of Parliament for North Tongu, from discussing him in relation to the National Cathedral issue.

This marks the third attempt by Rev. Kusi Boateng, also known as Adu Gyamfi, to obtain an injunction against the MP, following two previous failures.

Last year, the Human Rights Court dismissed a similar application in July, echoing a high court decision from months earlier.

Rev. Kusi Boateng's legal team has presented additional grounds in this appeal, hoping to secure a favorable outcome for the first time in a legal battle that has attracted significant media attention.

Thaddeus Sory has raised an objection to the appeal, arguing that the panel is not duly constituted in accordance with the constitutional provisions.

He contends that this undermines the respondent’s right to a fair trial under Article 13 of the 1992 Constitution.
