Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana, Jean Mensa has announced that special voting for the 2024 General Election will be held on December 2.
According to her, the special voting will be held in all 275 constituencies in the country before the election on December 7.
“The special voting will be held on Monday 2nd December 2024 in all the 275 constituencies in the country,” EC Chairperson Jean Mensa announced on Tuesday, May 28.
She announced this at a meeting with the national executive of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) and representatives of the security forces in Accra.
Special Voting is held for eligible voters who will be unable to vote at the polling stations where they registered on the day of the general election.
The exercise covers personnel of the Ghana Armed Forces, National Intelligence Bureau (NIB), National Security, Ghana Immigration Service, Ghana National Fire Service, and the Information Services Department.
Others who qualify for special voting include members of the National Ambulance Service, the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority, the Prisons Service, the Ghana Journalists Association, the Ghana Police Service, and the National Media Commission.
Meanwhile, Jean Mensa has assured the public that the EC will address all challenges before the 2024 General Election to ensure a smooth process from the voting through to the collating and announcement of results.
