The National Petroleum Authority (NPA) welcomed Stephen Ayesu Ntim as the new chairman of its Board of Directors.

The NPP National Chairman takes over from Joe Addo-Yobo, who has served in the position since 2017.

In a press statement issued by the NPA on May 23, it noted Energy Minister Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh officiated Mr. Ntim's swearing-in ceremony last Tuesday in line with constitutional requirements.

Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Opoku Prempeh charged the new chairman to focus on key priorities for the NPA such as strengthening regulatory frameworks, enhancing operational efficiencies, and ensuring the highest standards of integrity and accountability.

"Mr. Ntim is not new to leadership and therefore, I have no doubt that, he has what it takes to steer the NPA to achieve its objectives for the benefit of all Ghanaians," the minister said as quoted by NPA.

According to the petroleum sector regulator, the ruling NPP’s chairman brings extensive experience to the role from several executive and corporate positions both in Ghana and abroad.

He started his career as a Systems Engineer at Electronic Data Systems in Michigan, USA between 1993 to 1995.

Prior to that, he worked as a Programmer/Analyst at St Paul Fire and Marine Insurance Company in St Paul, Minnesota.

Mr. Ntim holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in French and Linguistics from the University of Ghana and an MBA in Management Information Systems from the University of Minnesota.

In the statement, the NPA said: "The Board and Management welcome Mr. Ntim to the National Petroleum Authority."
