Vice President and NPP flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, is facing accusations of nepotism within the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government.
National Communications Director of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi, has exposed what he calls “Bawumia’s family tree in the corrupt incumbent NPP government.”
In a post on X on Thursday, May 16, Sammy Gyamfi listed several relatives and cronies of Vice President Bawumia and his wife who have reportedly been given “juicy appointments” by the current administration.
“After lying against Mahama for running a nepotistic government, the NPP has given several juicy appointments to family relatives and cronies of Vice President Bawumia and his wife,” he wrote.
Among those listed in Bawumia’s alleged “family tree” within the NPP government include his father-in-law Alhaji Ahmed Ramadan, who is Ghana’s Special Envoy to the United Arab Emirates.
Two brothers of the 2nd Lady who are enjoying juicy appointments are Abu Ramadan, Deputy Director of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), and Fawzy Ramadan, who serves as Special Assistant to Second Lady Samira Bawumia.
Mumuni Abdulai Bawumia, brother of the Vice President, is also the Technical Advisor to the Ministry of Interior.
Hon. Lariba Zuweira Abudul, sister of Bawumia also served as Deputy CEO of the Northern Development Authority and is curently the Minister for Gender and Social Protection.
