National Chairman for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia has reiterated that the next government of the party will go after any official of President Akufo-Addo’s government that engaged in corruption.
Speaking to some party members at a 2024 strategy session in Atlanta, USA, the NDC National Chairman argued that the NPP is scared of going into opposition because it has engaged in looting of the public purse to the point that jail has become obvious.
He said once the NDC comes to power, all government officials who looted state funds will return them and face additional punishment.
“Nana Akufo-Addo and his government can be likened to a person who's riding a tiger. If you get down you will be devoured, and if you stay at the back of the tiger, you die of hunger. And so they are not worried about leaving power, but the real problem is what happens after they have left power.”
“But, we keep assuring them, that to save Ghana, we should not allow anybody to engage in wrongdoing in looting the country and getting away with it. And so if that's what they're scared of, they better prepare. They still have time to vomit all the loot or hold onto it and face the consequences,” Johnson Asiedu Nketia said stated.
He continued, “So, those who can communicate to the NPP people, let them know that it is our duty to save this country, and one way of saving the country, is to take over power and hold each and every duty bearer accountable for their leadership. And so we are prepared to do everything that it takes to kick them out and save this country.”
Although several polls have tipped the NDC to win the 2024 General Election, Johnson Asiedu Nketia urge the party to put in a lot of work.
He encourage members to double efforts to ensure victory in the December 7 polls.
