Ghana@67: Akrofuom D/A JHS and Akrofuom Methodist Primary clinch top awards

The Akrofuom District Assembly joined the nation in commemorating Ghana's 67th Independence Day with pomp and grandeur at the Akrofuom Senior High Technical School Park.

The celebration, graced by numerous schools and esteemed dignitaries, featured a vibrant march past competition, showcasing the district's talent and spirit.

Akrofuom D/A Junior High School triumphed in the Junior High School category, while Akrofuom Methodist Primary School and Akrofuom Methodist Kindergarten secured top honors in the Primary School and Kindergarten categories, respectively. Akrofuom Senior High Technical School emerged victorious in the Senior High School category.

In his address on behalf of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the Chief Executive for Akrofuom District, Hon. Dr. Maurice Jonas Woode, underscored the significance of Independence Day and expressed gratitude for the government's support in advancing the nation's progress despite challenges.

Reflecting on Ghana's journey to independence, Hon. Woode highlighted the sacrifices made by the nation's forefathers, paying tribute to the "Big Six" leaders, notably Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, whose legacy continues to illuminate the nation.

Emphasizing the importance of democracy in fostering peace and development, Hon. Woode commended Ghana's democratic strides, lauding the nation as the "Golden Child" of West Africa for its peaceful elections and commitment to democratic principles.

He urged educators to impart democratic values to students, stressing the role of education in shaping the nation's democratic future. Hon. Woode reiterated President Akufo-Addo's dedication to enhancing education through initiatives like TVET and STEM education, alongside improving teachers' welfare.

Acknowledging the role of security commanders in maintaining law and order, Hon. Woode emphasized the importance of a secure environment for attracting investment to the Akrofuom District.

In closing, he urged citizens to harness the benefits of democracy for national pride and development, calling on the youth to embrace hard work and discipline for the nation's advancement.

Vincent Tetteh, representing the District Director of Education, echoed the significance of Independence Day, urging residents to contribute to both district and national development. He emphasized the government's commitment to ensuring equal opportunities for all citizens and highlighted the importance of infrastructure, particularly in education, for national progress.
