‘We look forward to a good working relationship with you’ — PRINPAG to new Information Minister Fatimatu Abubakar

The Private Newspapers and Online News Publishers Association of Ghana (PRINPAG) has extended a warm welcome to the newly-appointed Minister for Information, Ms. Fatimatu Abubakar.

Ms. Abubakar was nominated for the top job following President Akufo-Addo's ministerial reshuffle on February 14, which saw her former boss and predecessor Kojo Oppong Nkrumah moved to the Ministry of Works and Housing.

In a statement of congratulations to the new minister, PRINPAG said "We look forward to forging a robust and mutually beneficial working relationship with Ms. Abubakar."

The association added that Ms. Abubakar's "exceptional leadership, integrity, and deep understanding of the role of the media in information dissemination" during her previous role as Deputy Information Minister made her well-suited to the position.

PRINPAG pledged to work closely with Ms. Abubakar to "advance the interests of journalists, uphold press freedom, and safeguard the vital role of the media in Ghanaian society."

It expressed confidence that under her stewardship, collaborative efforts between the information ministry and press associations "will lead to a stronger, more vibrant media landscape that serves the best interests of the Ghanaian people."
