Member of Parliament (MP) for Bolga Central, Isaac Adongo has noted that President Akufo-Addo’s ministerial reshuffle will not have any impact.

The President in a release from the Jubilee House on Wednesday, February 14, announced several changes to the executive.

Key among the changes is the decision to relieve Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta of his position. He is being replaced by Karaga MP Mohammed Amin.

Speaking to Citi News on the reshuffle this evening, Bolga MP Isaac Adongo said it has come too late.

He argued that President Akufo-Addo is making changes when his government has failed to deliver and there is little time in his two terms in office that is ending soon.

“Listen, you don’t bring on Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo when you are 10 nil down with 30 seconds to end the match. This will simply not have any impact. So that is exactly what the president has done. He’s thinking he is bringing his best thing at a time when he’s 10 nil down with 30 seconds to go. What can that bring? Nothing,” Isaac Adongo said.

The Bolga MP in the interview argued that although Ken Ofori-Atta will no longer head the Ministry of Finance, he will have the overriding authority on decision-making if the President goes ahead to appoint him as his senior advisor on Economy.

“For Mohammed Amin to get any policy through in cabinet or through executive approval in cabinet the president has to go and consult Ofori-Atta. And so technically it means that Mohammed Amin cannot do anything if Ken Ofori-Atta is not in agreement because he will advice the president against it,” Isaac Adongo argued.
