Akufo-Addo needed to do his reshuffle two years ago; It’s too late now – Freddy Blay

A former National Chairman of the governing New Patriotic Party, Freddy Blay has indicated that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s reshuffle has come too late.

According to him, the President should have done his reshuffle two years ago.

“It was two years or a year ago that he needed to do the reshuffle. If you recall some members of the majority caucus in parliament insisted under some circumstances that there ought to be some changes but the President requested for one minister to conclude the IMF negotiations before he could do that.

“The circumstances might not be the same today and people may have a change of opinion but to me it is getting a bit too late to effect any meaningful changes in terms of a reshuffle of the government,” Freddy Blay said in an interview with Starr FM.

President Akufo-Addo on Wednesday, February 14, announced changes to the executive.

Among the Ministers relieved of their duties is the Minister of Finance, Ken Ofori-Atta.

The Minister for Health, Kwaku Agyemang Manu, Information Minister Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, and the Greater Accra Regional Minister Henry Quartey have all been relieved of their duties.

Meanwhile, President Akufo-Addo has also removed 10 Deputy ministers from his government.
