Ntim, Kodua, leads high-level NPP delegation to Manhyia Palace over Wontumi summons

The leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has sent a high-level delegation to the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi to meet the Asante Traditional Council.

The delegation, led by NPP National Chairman Stephen Ayensu Ntim and General Secretary Justin Kodua, includes key party officials like Ashanti Regional Minister Simon Osei Mensah, Suame MP and Majority Leader Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu and the Minister for chieftaincy and Regional integration, Asamoah Boateng.

They arrived at the Palace for meetings with the traditional Council, who had earlier summoned NPP Ashanti Regional Chairman Bernard Antwi Boasiako, known as Chairman Wontumi, to answer allegations of insulting the Asantehene.

Chairman Wontumi is reported to have made derogatory remarks about Otumfuo Osei Tutu II during the party's vetting of parliamentary candidates for Manhyia South.

Nana Kwaku Duah, Chief of Kokoso and the Otumfuo’s Obremponhene, as well as Manhyia South NPP Constituency Chairman Ofori Attah Tom-Tom, are alleged to have lodged the official complaint to the Kumasi Traditional Council.

Earlier visits by NPP General Secretary Justin Kodua and Organizer Henry Nana Boakye failed to resolve the issue, with the Council insisting on a face-to-face meeting with the businessman, Chairman Wontumi.

Per reports gathered by this portal, there was an earlier secret meeting by the traditional council before they met the NPP delegations.
