Felix Kwakye Ofosu, a leading member of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has said Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia's 2015 criticism of the party's handling of the economy has come back to haunt him.
In 2015, prior to becoming Vice President, Dr. Bawumia tweeted that the only thing the NDC is competent at is economic mismanagement, propaganda and others instead of fixing the economy.
Bawumia in 2015 stated: “The NDC is competent at mismanaging the economy, propaganda, perpetuating DUMSOR, collapsing industries, & failing to fulfil its promises.”
However, Felix Kwakye Ofosu contends that events in the last few years show those words have come back to haunt the Vice President.
"Who would have thought that Bawumia was describing himself when he launched that tirade against the NDC in 2015?" said Mr. Kwakye Ofosu in a tweet on Thursday, October 26.
"He has proven to be utterly hopeless in the way he has mismanaged this economy into its worst shape in decades under his watch,” he added.
Ghana is currently experiencing high inflation, a weakening cedi, and a heavy debt burden, prompting it to reach an IMF bailout plan of $3 billion.
Kwakye Ofosu argues this vindicates the NDC.
