"Dam spillage: 'I'm here to help; It's not about who voted for me or not, because you don't vote for me' — Akufo-Addo to Voltarians"

The above quote is one of the goofs openly made by the president, which I think is uncalled for. Is this how a president must speak to his people who are faced with a disaster and need assurance and hope from their leaders? But I think we are learning a lesson, though a bitter one, it will at least, guide us as to who to choose as our president next time. Would Nana have said this the time he was going around begging Ghanaians to try him and see? Nope! But our people say when you allow a leper to visit you and dine with you at the same table, you can't blame him when he starts sleeping with your wife. We made him president so why complain again about his insults to us?

Honestly, I must say the leaders of the NPP party must call this man to order. He is on a dangerous path to destroy the future of the party and though I'm not one of them, I think the multiparty democratic system of governance helps a lot. If for nothing, it makes the opposition put checks and balances on the ruling party. But what Nana is doing now, I don't believe he wants the party to ever come to power or even to break their unrealistic 8. He needs to be told to stop the goofs, especially, in public.

After insulting these people( Ewes), he will carry this same uncouth and apolitical behaviour to other parts of the country, where he thinks the people don't vote for the NPP. However, this is very unfortunate. "To make peace with an enemy one must work with that enemy, and that enemy becomes one's partner". This was said by the all-time great man, Mandela. Therefore, I would have thought that even though Nana knows that these people don't vote for him or the NPP, he should work with them and make them his partners. But this ludicrous statement is not only an embarrassment to the few members of the NPP in that region, but it's also an insult to them. Nana will agree with me that in the history of our politics, the Volta Region has given him more votes than they have ever given to any NPP presidential candidate. So, is that his way of rewarding those few people who have been loyal to him and helped him become the president of Ghana?

Furthermore, I thought the said people with grey hair are full of wisdom and speak wisely too. Oh, sorry! I have forgotten the man doesn't have even a strand of hair on his head. So, could that also be the reason he talks like this or what? I want to believe his inability to speak mannerly is inborn. Because others don't also have hair on their heads but those heads are full of wisdom. One is born arrogant or society makes one arrogant and impudent. I may not know which one is the case here but for sure, the traits are available. I don't see why Nana should talk in public and people start to bow their heads in shame.

These days the president is making some weird comments openly and I think he should be schooled to learn how to talk as a president. One such undiplomatic, Unpresidential, and reckless statement he made recently was when he opined that Ghana stands with Israel and Ukraine. Does he not know the political history of Ghana being a member of the Non-Aligned Movement( Nam)or he is historically bankrupt to such imperative information but can distort other relevant facts to suit his parochial interest? We don't want war to come and add to the already economic miseries we are battling with now in this country. He should allow us to suffer economic hardship without adding any more burden to that. However, we can't be sure that these porous statements by the president won't allow others to attack us.

Finally, even if the president knows he will soon be leaving the seat of the presidency and will not need any votes from anyone, he should know how to still speak, especially in public. He may go but his party remains here with us after he leaves the highest seat. Also, I think his handlers must choose perfect diction for him to deliver his speeches. It's not a shame if he isn't a good orator like others. He can glue his eyes on a script, and doing a good job will be better than goofing all the time and making people find it difficult to do any damage control for him, his party, and the country for the sake of peace.
