Resigned Minister of Sanitation and Water Resources, Cecilia Abena Dapaah says the amount of money reported by media claimed to have been stolen from her house is inaccurate.
She said it's completely different from what she reported to the police.
The Sanitation Minister however resigned on Saturday, July 22 following reports on Friday that $1 million, €300,000 and other valuables totalling millions of cedis were stolen from her home by two domestic workers.
The report led to public outcry amidst calls for her dismissal.
In her resignation letter to President Nana Akufo-Addo, she stated, "Whereas I can state emphatically that those figures do not represent correctly what my husband and I reported to the police, I am very much aware of the import of such stories around someone in my position."
She stated that she resigned to avoid the further allegations becoming a distraction to the government.
She expressed her intent to fully cooperate with authorities to establish the facts of the case.
"I have no doubt whatsoever that at the end of the processes, it will be fully established that I have conducted myself with integrity during my period in public service and I will be fully exonerated from all the allegations," she added.
