Nana Frema Busia: Re: Special Prosecutor Vim Etc

RE ETC : At 5:45 pm on Saturday 17th June, I was at home, quietly writing and minding my business when I observed about 4 Armed Policemen in uniform toting conspicuous drawn out guns at my residence. The leader up front was hitting my entrance gate with what seemed an AK 47.

After they left, two of them came back 5 minutes later to repeat the cycle of gun knocking and were also seen by a neighbour returning from work. A network of fantastic guys around me kept supportive vigilant eyes on my residence as I called the head of police patrol in my neighbourhood to report the incident.

The officer was ever so courteous and asked if I had "Palaver " with anyone. I said that besides writing fine articles about misgovernance of our beleaguered nation, I was not aware of any palaver that required such a show of force though I get intimidating scenarios that happen from time to time around my residence which gets police run -around to no avail when reported!

There was no security situation in my neighbourhood or my residence and no official police operation to have deserved this targeted power visit for whatever mission to which I was non-responsive although seen by my unwanted guests. I do not think police officers with a legitimate enquiry should boldly display unsightly weapons to visit an innocent citizen anchored in faith without fear in a democracy with supposed freedom of speech and expression.

As I am responsible for and toiled to my utmost detriment for the establishment of the Ghana Small Arms Commission for control of arms proliferation in the system, and sub region, I was not amused by their apparent arms misuse and inherent power abuse.

In any case, If I had palaver with anyone which I dont, why should they be able to commandeer police with guns to my Residence and if they were fake how did they come by their uniforms and pointed guns?

Are they secret unofficial political action troopers on an intimidation run? Who sent them, what for, why now and when next shall I expect them and for what purpose ? Can they not tell that I am not scared of them from previous Acts of intimidation and "communist inferior tactics" after articles on some nationally favoured criminal citizens?

Re Special Prosecutor : Sorry for digression. Incidentally, I recently wrote an ode to Prof Frimpon Boateng which hopefully is unrelated to the rude and crude police visit. Yes, sebe o taflatse, Whereas all of us humans's including my good self and the Special Prosecutor " SP" too ? fail the sainthood imperative, And, whereas whatever Prof Frimpong Boateng is "guilty" of should be laid bare;

To us mere mortals, his arrest for PROSECUTION? by the SP only after his report in which he points fingers at powerhouses spilled into the public domain after two years in the custody of the Presidency wreaks of bad faith PERSECUTION. One cannot help but wonder whether the show of Muscular Political POWER is a COVER UP for those who may be equally or even more "guilty" than the embattled Prof.

The context of the interesting pivotal arrest and bail certainly seem Punitive as though resulting from NOT remaining silent about alleged "galamsey overlords"

Therefore, all that he has said in his "unofficial IMC Report" that has been leaked seem being held against him even before his Miranda rights were given? Such tragi_ comedy smells of Victimization even if he were truly "guilty" of whatever financial conundrums that are to be "dug up from hidden mines" for us all to see. The context does undermine the credibility of the SP's investigation at its outset.

Irony of ironies, Meanwhile the Germans (what do they know about galamsey that the SP does not know or vice versa), have in their aptly timed wisdom, awarded the same Prof Frimpong Boateng for his dedicated fight against galamsey!

We await with bated breath as the newly found gusto of Mr. Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng, goes after THEM and ARRESTS THEM ALL as he has promised without kissing up to any high up corruption bin.

PS:Is the touted independence of the SP, not, oh so very compromised by the strategic design of his majestic offices under the oversight tentacles of the Attorney General?

Let us be prayerful as we Act for a sea change of our collective bad Attitudes and laws that are senseless

Let us not stoop to baseless Platitudes for those without right Aptitudes

Yes, Let our Special Prosecutor have courage to boot out those without roots who loot national coffers due power Latitudes

Let us pave way for loving governance with great Altitude for our Multitudes

Yes, Let us leave conscientious objectors alone as our nation Rises Up from the doldrums of constitutional distortions and distractions.

Indeed, Let the entrenched economic hardships and existential galamsey crisis downing our nation in the throes of despair be Resolved.
