The Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng has said in the eyes of his office, no one is a saint or an angel and, hence, above corruption related probe.

His comment comes after a section of the public criticized the Office of the Special Prosecutor for arresting and subsequently granting bail of GHS2million to Professor Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng, the Former Chairman of the defunct Inter-Ministerial Committee on Illegal Mining (IMCIM).

Critics of the OSP wondered why Prof Frimpong-Boateng who had rather named people in government allegedly involved in galamsey was arrested while those accused have been not invited or arrested.

Also, these critics consider Prof Frimpong-Boateng who is also a renowned heart surgeon as a noble man with high reputation.

However, reacting to his critics, Mr Agyebeng said no one is a saint or an angel so far as his work is concerned.

Speaking on News File or Accra-based Joy News, Mr Agyebeng said “I wish I were you to also have the luxury to consecrate someone or some person as a saint in respect of which nothing should be done to them but where I sit, I do not have that luxury to treat [someone] as a saint and when saints are being consecrated I don’t get the memo.

“I am the conscience of the nation, I am the spirit of the nation, the office is the conscience of the nation, the office is the spirit of the nation, where we sit we look at everybody in the same manner”.

Meanwhile, contrary to claims that others accused by Professor Frimpong Boateng had not been invited, Mr Agyebeng said tens of persons of interest have been invited and it could run into thousands but it has not been made public.
