Check details of WAEC’s annual ‘Distinction Awards’ for best-performing WASSCE students

The West African Examination Council (WAEC) has announced the criteria and details for the 2022 WAEC Distinction Awards.

The awards, which are an initiative of the WAEC Endowment Fund (WEF), aim to reward exceptional performance in the Council's examinations at the Senior High School level.

According to the eligibility criteria, candidates must have obtained a minimum of eight (8) grade A1's in one sitting and must not have engaged in any examination malpractice.

The raw scores of eligible candidates will be standardised and converted to T-Scores, which will be used to rank the candidates and select the award winners.

The awards will be presented in two categories: Distinction Awards and Programme Awards.

The Distinction Awards will be presented to the Best Overall Candidates in Ghana, including the Best Overall Candidate, 2nd Best Overall Candidate, and 3rd Best Overall Candidate.

The Programme Awards will be presented to candidates who top the General Science Programme, General Arts Programme, Business Programme, Home Economics Programme, Agriculture Programme, Technical Programme, and Visual Arts Programme, according to the eligibility criteria.

The WAEC Distinction Awards have become an annual event, and it serves as a motivation for candidates to work hard and strive for excellence in their studies.

This year's awards, slated for Thursday, June 22, are expected to be highly competitive, with many candidates expected to meet the eligibility criteria.
