Assin North by-election: NPP engaging in vote buying; we have no doubts the constituents are discerning— Sammy Gyamfi

National Communications Officer for the National Democratic Congress, Sammy Gyamfi has said there is no doubt the people of Assin North are discerning and will by no means fall for the New Patriotic Party antics of vote buying.

The allegations of vote-buying particularly during Kumawu by-election have resurfaced in the yet-to-be-held Assin North by-election after pictures emerged on social media of ongoing road construction.

In a submission on Good Morning Ghana on Metro TV National Communications Officer, Sammy Gyamfi stated, “They are busy mobilising contractors to go into the constituency, send equipment to the roads in the area which they have neglected all these years to create an impression that all of a sudden because of the by-election they care about the people of Assin North. Same shameless conduct they employed in Kumawu and that is what they want to do and engage in the same monetisation may be in the Assin North. It may even be bigger, the same practice of vote buying that is what they engaged in Kumawu.

“We have no doubts in our mind that the people of Assin North are discerning, they will not neglect, they will not reject honourable James Quayson who has proven to be interested in their welfare and development", Sammy Gyamfi stated.

James Gyakye Quayson, an embattled member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has formally declared his desire to run in the June 27 by-election for Assin North.

"I am determined to continue serving the good people of the Assin North with all my heart, soul, body, and all the resources I can muster for the benefit of my constituents,” James Gyakye Quayson said in a statement.
