We have already written about and extensively discussed ad nauseam, the dual-citizenship fraud criminally perpetrated against both the sovereign citizens of Ghana and, in particular, against the good and hardworking citizens and residents of Assin-North Constituency, in the Central Region, by the recently removed National Democratic Congress-sponsored Mr. James Gyakye Quayson and therefore do not find it necessary to rehash the same issue, once again, in the present column, except to heartily commend and salute the members of Ghana’s august Supreme Court for boldly and fearlessly, as well as objectively and impartially, demanding the immediate removal of the indicted criminal suspect from our august Parliament or National Assembly.
Our only plaint here is that it took rather much too long for the Chief Justice Kwasi Anin-Yeboah, presently outgoing or statutorily retiring, presided Supreme Bench to take this most justifiable decision. As usual, however, you have such morally reprehensible and legally tainted judicial scofflaws like the perpetually wet-eared and emotionally jejune and vacuously pontifical NDC-ticketed charlatanic parliamentarians like Mr. Samuel Okudzeto-Ablakwa, the North-Tongu Constituency Representative, from the Volta Region, downright blasphemously calling the credibility and integrity of the civically responsible and patriotic and erudite members of the Apex Court into question.
For those of our readers who may have so soon forgotten the same, it was Mr. Ablakwa, then barely out of his diapers, both literally and figuratively, who teamed up with Dr. Edward Omane-Boamah, with the heretically scandalous backing of then-President John Evans “Atta-Woyome” Mills, late, to criminally defy an order issued by the Chief Justice Georgina Theodora Wood-presided Supreme Court of Ghana (SCOG), in the matter of the legitimate acquisition of state-owned real-estate and landed property by the late Mr. Jake Otanka Obetsebi-Lamptey, at the time a former National Chairman of the then main opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP).
On the latter count ought to be promptly underscored the fact that Mr. Obetsebi-Lamptey had made such purchases or acquisitions under a procedural precedent set by the self-righteous “revolutionary” leadership of the late Chairman Jeremiah “Jerry” John Rawlings-founded National Democratic Congress and before the latter institutional establishment, the Rawlings-led bloody junta of the Provisional National Defense Council (PNDC). In his decidedly noetic and logically absurd protestation, Mr. Ablakwa mischievously claims that at the time that the longtime Canadian-resident and naturalized citizen filed his nomination to contest for the Assin-North Parliamentary Seat, that Mr. James Gyakye Quayson had already renounced his North American citizenship, as clearly stipulated by Ghana’s 1992 Republican Constitution.
No such false claim, as made by Mr. Ablakwa, could be more criminally mendacious. Indeed, as this writer wrote about this exact same subject at the time, there existed incontrovertible evidence to the effect that Mr. Quayson had, in Akan idiomatic parlance, flagrantly attempted to peek into a bottle with both of his eyes. As was naturally to be expected, in the process, there was absolutely no other punitive alternative but for this political scam-artist to permanently lose the visual capacities of both of his eyes. You see, Dear Reader, Mr. Quayson had figured well beforehand that giving up his hard-earned and financially lucrative Canadian citizenship was not worth the dicey and indeterminable outcome of his decision to contest for the Assin-North’s Parliamentary Seat. And so the NDC-sponsored opportunistic contestant decided to await the outcome of the Assin-North Parliamentary Election before having his Canadian citizenship formally and officially revoked.
His characteristically criminal and inexcusably despicable decision to impugn the credibility and the integrity of the members of the Supreme Court of Ghana, as well as the august institutional establishment of the SCOG itself, on the part of Mr. Ablakwa, farcically presupposes that, somehow, these erudite judicial luminaries are damn too illiterate to correctly and objectively interpret both the proverbial letter and the spirit of the law, much less be able to issue a morally and professionally competent verdict. Now, this is the irredeemably corrupt assessment of a legally trained charlatanic politician who ought to have had his legal training certificate and legal practice license summarily revoked at the time that he so feloniously defied the decision of the Wood Supreme Court in the Matter of Obetsebi-Lamptey v. Okudzeto-Ablakwa & Omane-Boamah.
Unfortunately, ours does not appear to be a country where the strict enforcement of the law is afforded high premium or utmost priority. As one smart blogger pointedly noted in the “Comments” section attached to the news report that constituted the source and the inspiration of this writeup, as many a Ghanaian reader is wont to characterize the same, rather than take his usual crude and childish potshots at the eminent jurists of our Apex Court who called for the summary parliamentary dismissal and the removal of Mr. Quayson, Messrs. Ablakwa and Cassiel Ato Forson, the newly appointed Parliamentary Minority Caucus’ Leader, would be better off filing for a Judicial Review of the Quayson Decision, as allowed by Ghana’s 1992 Republican Constitution. So much for the dastardly deployment of political arm-twisting by these “revolutionary” goon squad of terror-mongering recalcitrant losers.
