Kumawu by-election: Partisan nonsense must give way to common sense – Prof. Gyampo

Political Science lecturer at the University of Ghana, Legon, Prof. Ransford Gyampo is hoping that electorates will make a rational choice in the Kumawu by-election.

In a post on Facebook, he said it is important that partisan nonsense is replaced by common sense.

Prof. Gyampo insists that Ghanaian politics have come of age and voters must no longer be fooled by politicians.

“In the Kumawu Bye-Election, Politics of Sentimental Attachment to Partisan Nonsense must give way to Politics of Reason, Common Sense, and Rational Choice. We have come of age, and voters must refuse to be fooled,” Prof. Ransford Gyampo said in a post on Facebook.

The by-election in Kumawu in the Ashanti Region will be held on Tuesday, May 23.

The by-election has become necessary following the passing of Hon. Philip Basoah which left the Parliamentary seat vacant.

Since last week, the leadership of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) have been in Kumawu to campaign for their respective parliamentary candidates.
