Flagbearer aspirant John Dramani Mahama last Saturday, May 13 pulled 997 votes out of the 1001 valid votes cast.

The delegates drawn from all 129 polling stations in the Constituency voted overwhelmingly to endorse former President John Dramani Mahama as the Presidential Candidate for the NDC in the 2024 general elections.

He beats his only contender Kojo Bonsu who got four of the votes cast with 12 rejected votes.

The peaceful election was supervised by the Agona East District Election Director, Mrs. Patience Shebrah and her team of Electoral Officers.

The Agona East Member of Parliament, Hon. Queenster Maame Pokua Sawyer was elected unopposed to contest the seat for the fourth time.

Soon after her declaration as the NDC Parliamentary Candidate elect for Agona East by the District Director of the Electoral Commission, Mrs Patience Shebrah, on behalf of the former President, the Parliamentary Candidate elect thanked the delegates for the confidence reposed in her and the former President.

"Am going to work assiduously for His Excellency John Dramani Mahama and the NDC to win the 2024 general elections and to retain the seat for NDC. What I need from you is your maximum support to ginger us to achieve our desire goal of total victory.

"The NDC is fully prepared for the battle ahead. Today's peaceful elections is a signal and a warning to other political parties that the NDC is poised to win the elections whether rain or shine.

"I must express my appreciation to Agona East NDC for bringing me back as their trusted Parliamentary Candidate for the 2024 general elections.

"As you people know, Maame Pokua is development-oriented MP who does not deny her constituents of the needed infrastructure development to improve the quality lives of her constituents. What I need from you is your unflinching support and encouragement to enable me deliver. I know today's victory, means a total victory for me and His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama. Your moral support means am serving the constituency in humility and sacrificial with mutual respect for everyone irrespective of age, religious background or tribe. We are one people with a common goal to retain the seat for the NDC," Hon. Queenster Maame Pokua Sawyer noted.

Later in an interview with Newsmen at Agona Mankrong Junction (Nkwanta), the Agona East NDC Election Research Officer, Mr. Abraham Kojo Inkum was convinced that the party was going to win the 2024 general elections.

"We are leaving no stone unturned in our quest to recapture political power in the country. Today's victory of Hon. Queenster Maame Pokua Sawyer and President John Dramani Mahama is a strong indication that the NDC will form the next government of Ghana and will be led by His Excellency John Dramani Mahama," Mr. Inkum stated.

In a related development, former President John Dramani Mahama equally won the Agona West Presidential elections with 99.3% of the valid votes cast. He got 1,647 out of the 1,659 valid votes. Mr. Kojo Bonsu had 12 votes with 18 rejected ballots.

In the Parliamentary elections, Madam Ernestina Ofori Dangbey defeated her closest rival in the keenly contested elections. She pulled 1,047 out of the 1,667 votes cast against Mr. Maxwell Wiah Asomani who obtained 620 votes with 10 rejected votes.
