Asiedu Nketia's Rise to Chairmanship Spells Doom for The NDC

Last night, a friend engaged me in a chatty “convo” on why the NPP should be jittering because Asiedu Nketiah has been elevated to the chairmanship of the party. I made the following remarks.

Johnson Asiedu Nketiah widely known as “General Mosquito” as the leader of the party will not give the NDC any cut in the next election. As an individual, he has accomplished so much for himself, and his political credentials have been towered above the Burj Kalifa by some party loyalist.

Though his exploits are widely accepted as impressive as general secretary of the NDC for a whopping 17 years, his failures in the same office he occupied are equally very loud. Therefore, I am not tickled a bit about his new job. This same man led his party as Chief Executive Officer to two failed presidential and general elections in 2016 and 2020 respectively. In a serious political organisation, Asiedu Nketiah should have been axed long ago out of office and distant from any critical leadership role.

Many players in our political space refer to him as the father of unguarded political commentary. His career was at its best when propaganda was a thing to go by but unfortunately that “glorious” era is dead. In my view, his political career has been laced with a plethora of “honorable loose talks” at various heights. Our elders say the mouth of an elder may stink but out of it comes wisdom. Unfortunately, this is an elder whose mouth stink and at the same time alien to wisdom. “Any fool can go to court” is a known axiom credited to “General Mosquito”. This is an elderly man with a mouth full of teeth without wisdom when the reverse is supposed to be the reality. In a recent past, he vilified the Supreme Court Justices saying that they threw common sense out of the window and adjudicated their petition against them. This same man was heard loudly admitting that the NDC had no collated results to support their case in court. His recent leaked audio did not come to me as a surprise because I have long held that General Mosquito is a man who is frequent with deceiving heaven to cross the sea.

It is trite knowledge that he is bereft of new ideas to turn the untenable political fortunes of the NDC in 2024. Propaganda is a relic of the past and “Mosquitoe” is the same old story. This man is not a team player. He accused the former chairman for their defeat in the 2020 election adducing several reasons most of which he cannot distant himself from as a team player. Just like mosquitoes do they suck blood! There is a high probability that he could divulge critical information on the alters of personal success when the need arises. The NDC should be worried at his elevation. I am not a prophet but if “leadership is cause and every other thing effect” then I can prophesy that Asiedu Nketiah is leading his party to yet another defeat in 2024 as Chairman.
