It's only imbecility coupled with pure insensitivity of thought that will make an economically broke country go for a loan and use a part of it to build a cathedral while the citizens have deplorable roads, no electricity, no schools, no textbooks, no potable water, and even no food. When greedy people want to loot, they tell you they are doing the work of God.

Most roads in this country are rather better described as death traps. Many people perish annually on our roads mostly owing to the poor nature of the roads aside from other factors. Therefore, many would have thought that; a country that's suffering from the current economic predicaments would have been reasonable in how money is used. But as usual, the politicians want to hide under doing the work of God to loot the state.

In this 21st century, who would believe that a country like Ghana will still have major parts of its population living in darkness because they have no access to electricity? That aside, even those who have electricity in their homes sometimes go for days without light as a result of an inadequate power supply that brings about dumsor. Businesses are not spared the consequences of this sporadic power supply as some businesses also fold up because of it.

It's quite pathetic to know that in some parts of this country, school children still sit either under trees to learn or lie flat on the bare floor while learning. Even when you see schools completely built and fully furnished, most of those schools don't have textbooks for the students to use and learn. Yet some people think that building a cathedral is more prudent a thing to accomplish than solving such disgraceful chronic problems in society.

Are our politicians aware some people compete with animals to drink even the only muddy source of water available in their communities? Maybe our politicians are not in touch with the reality on the ground or they just always want a way to create, loot, and share at the expense of the poor citizens they claim they have come to help. They are still communities in this modern Ghana that have no potable water to drink but our leaders are more concerned with the idea of building a cathedral and this makes me sometimes wonder if our leaders are normal or sick in their brains!

As I write, several Ghanaians are finding it highly impossible to get food to eat. Apart from the usual lazy ones who go around sleeping in church houses claiming to be praying for miracles to happen in their lives, they are many hard-working Ghanaians who can't just find food to eat because of mismanagement of the economy. And instead of the government to be thinking of how to revamp the economy, it's finding a way to waste more money in the name of building a house to praise God. Which God will want to be praised while the praisers are dying of hunger and thirst? I'm yet to see that kind of God because I know the God of Israel isn't a wicked God.

I won't be fair to those especially, the minority in Parliament and other stakeholders who have spoken against this weird idea 9f building a cathedral while Ghanaians are suffering. Who would have complained if the country wasn't going through the current economic catastrophe? But we can only describe any decision to build a house of God at this challenging time as a stupid decision. The other day I even asked if this country is purely a Christian state. I'm befuddled as to why the government is bent on building a national cathedral while there are other more pressuring issues left untouched. Will the government also build a national shrine for those of us who belong to the African Traditional?

Ghanaiad are watching !
