Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong has reaffirmed his desire to become President of Ghana.
He said, that was the only way to help save the NPP from defeat in the next general elections.
Speaking on Accra based Oman FM on July 18, he noted that after 8 years of under the same leadership Ghanaians often get fed up with old faces in power.
“The reason I want to lead Ghana is because one, for every government all over the world after 8 years the people get fed up of you with the same crop of people. Let me give you one example, Clinton and Al Gore.
“During Clinton’s time, he created over 1.2 million young millionaires in 8 years in the US because of the way he handled the economy. Everyone thought they would look at his works and vote for Al Gore. Al Gore is a fine gentleman.
“If he had not been Clinton's Vice and he contested on a clean slate he would have beaten George Bush, but because he had been with Clinton for 8 years the people had become fed up.
“Ghanaians also think that everyone in mainstream politics in this current cabinet is of the same face. So after people kept coming to me and I thought about it I realized I could save the party and break the 8,” he explained.
According to him, he has not put up a team yet but private persons have already begun campaigning for him with billboards and posters. "If NPP wants to 'break the 8' they should give me chance. I can do it and I will deliver it."
