You Are Not Kwame Nkrumah - Dr Abubakar Alhasan
14.08.2002 LISTEN

The National Chairman of the Convention Peoples Party (CPP), Dr. Abubakar Alhassan, on Tuesday, 23 July 2002, has described the New Patriotic Party´s (NPP) privatisation policy being pursued as anti-social, cheating and unjust to the fundamental human rights of Ghanaians. He said his party is not happy about the way the economy is being run by privatising every bit of it for few to get rich and richer adding that it will only increase the woes of Ghanaians. „This will be a disappointment and failure in the long run,“ he said. On this issue of the privatisation of water, he said it will be a big blow to the government if it fails to reverse the decision, and the CPP will not take it kindly with them, stressing it will actually reverse the policy when the party wins power in 2004. I will like to make it clear to Dr. Abubakar Alhassan that his statement here is a ridiculous one. This is a very shameful observation. We expect a man of this nature to say something reasonable rather than finding words to fool Ghanaian voters. Permit me to say this because your statement is meaningless for the fact that if you think the governments policy in privatising water will no doubt cause anti-social, cheating and unjust to the fundamental human rights of Ghanaians, why is it not possible for your party to come out with a new stately to help solve the problem today rather than telling Ghanaians that you will reverse this action when you are voted in power in 2004. Why not today? Is it not the same „PULL HIM DOWN“ political tactics?.

This demonstrates how incompetent most of you politicians are. You are all trying to fool the people by using Kwame Nrumah´s name as a scape goat. Is it not the same Ghanaians that misunderstood him during his reign? You are not Kwame Nkrumah. Note that „His ways are not your ways neither are his thoughts your thoughts“. You should stop using his ideas to deceive the people. Use your own name and ideas for your campaign.

It is true Kwame Nkrumah founded „The CPP“ yes, he is dead and gone. If anyone of you will like to maintain the name CPP, that does not mean you can apply his Wisdom and ideas that God gave him. He is dead and gone with his ideas and wisdom. It is a shame for any Ghanaian to start crying for Kwame Nkrumah today. It is even a shame for all African leaders holding Doctorate degrees who never understood what this man was talking about to start praising him.

Why is it that 36 years after his death, that the so-called African intellectuals are now pretending as if they have understood his vision? Is it not shameful for them now to forming „African Union“ The white man told you he is dangerous and too fast for Ghanaians and Africa so we should do away with him and Ghanaians did it. Shame on all of us.

Dr. Abubakar Alhassan said the CPP leadership remains focused and will not divert from its original socialist policy drawn by Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, first president of Ghana. This you can never achieve because none of you have the concept and Wisdom to achieve what Dr. Kwame Nkrumah had in mind.

I will therefore like to put it to you Dr. Abubakar Alhasan, that you are not Kwame Nkrumah and none of you Ghanaians will ever be like him, so if you think you have something to offer to our motherland, do so by applying your own personal knowledge and not that of Nkrumah.

You talked about advanced countries like Germany, Russia, Britain and other Scandinavian countries having created wealth for their people through the socialist policy, adding that it is also good for the state to own enterprises to ease unemployment and create wealth. What is the meaning of advanced country? Do you know how they got advanced? What made them adopt socialist policy? Can CPP tell Ghanaians the history of the white man´s socialist policy? Are Ghanaians advanced? Have we been thought socialism in our schools?

What happened to all the ideas, factories and government owned properties that Dr. Kwame Nkrumah left behind? What happened to Ghana owned Airline Ghana Airways? Is it not a government owned enterprise established by Kwame Nkrumah? Why are they bankrupt? What happened to our Jute factory in Kumasi? What happened to the silos he built? Has CPP been able to educate Ghanaian government on how to create employment and how to create Wealth? Have Ghanaians understood how to possess, maintain, and manage government owned properties?. IF „Yes“ then, what brought about the downfall of government owned enterprises since Nkrumah passed away some 36 years ago?.

Do we understand what good governance and good managment is?. Remember the slogans your Rawlings used when wanting to come to power: „From Yokogari to president and from president to Ghanaians bankruptcy. I will like to put it to you politicians that: „You can fool Ghanaians sometime but we will not sit down for you to fool us all the time“.

What you politicians are doing to the nation by just accusing each other for not handling the economy of the country well has no reason. None of you can do better when you get to the „TOP“. The only solution is, you should stop pointing fingers at each other because when you point one finger to the other, the remaining 4 (four) fingers will automatically point at you.

It is time for you intellectuals to answer those questions and come out with substantial concept to educate our nation and our children rather than witch-hunting each other.

Let me give you this prophecy: „None of you will ever make it unless you are able to seek the Wisdom of God and his Spirit that can help us first to create unity and love among our people“.

Remember that those of you who wouldn’t like their brothers to take 9(nine), they too can never take 10 (ten).

We in the Diaspora are on our way coming to Ghana one day. We will prove to Ghanaians that we will defend them and release the from bondage at all cost. No weapon that is formed against Ghana´s development shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against Ghanaians unity shall be condemned.
