The deep gullies on our bad roads can even be used to bury dead bodies — Residents in Ablekuma-Agape lament

Residents in and around Ablekuma-Agape in the Anyaa-Sowutuom constituency in Accra have lamented the deplorable state of their roads.

Aside from the deep gullies dotted on every part of the 50-meter stretch of the Agape road, the recent downpour has worsened the situation with flooding along the entire roads. Several vehicles are reported to have broken down in the middle of the road causing annoying traffic congestion.

“If it isn’t flooded, we are faced with gullies as capable of being used for burials, not to talk of the swelling dust when it’s dry here”, he said

To make matters worse, other public transport drivers have even stopped plying the road after several vehicles broke down in the middle of the road.

This for residents has been a major issue of concern since the majority of them commute to their homes via public transport.

A resident of the area, who identified himself as pastor Tony, reported the issue to the Prime Morning Show this week.

According to him, residents first petitioned the Member of Parliament for the area, Hon Dr. Dickson Adomako Kissi to find an immediate solution to the situation before its turns into a fishing pond.

At a meeting on 21^st September, Dr. Kissi suggested to them that, in the books of the President, the roads are supposed to be completed. He however could not give reasons why the road in actual reality had not been done.

He acknowledged their plight and promised to provide a temporal solution to the problem. Unfortunately, nothing has been done especially now that the rains have set in heavily.
