Deputy Ashanti Regional Coordinator of the Nation Builders Corps (NABCO) in charge of monitoring and evaluation Snr. Martin Ameyaw has indicated that his outfit since its introduction has served as a life-changing initiative to many Ghanaian Youth judging from its ability to absolve significant portions of Ghana’s unemployment among the youth, a situation that culminated in the formation of ‘graduate unemployment association’ in the previous administration.

He said the NPP government upon assumption into office realized prudent measure like the NABCO initiative was needed to curtail the growing spate of graduate unemployment in the country which resulted in the government employing over 100,000 unemployed graduate youth with GHs 700.00 monthly salary agreement to beneficiaries

The deputy coordinator, therefore, believes the government is on course to completely eliminate the graduate unemployment situation with the “come to stay Nabco program” hoping to recruit another batch by end of 2021 after the exit of the current batch.

In an interview with SK De Broadcaster on Cruz FM in Akomadan, Mr. Martin revealed about 30,000 recruits have departed through various exit plans provided by management leaving 70,000 who by end of November this year would be paving way for a new set of 100,000 entrants.

Contrary to reports of illegal payments to non-active members as quizzed by the host of the show SK De Broadcaster, Mr. Martin indicated vigilance and effectiveness as in playing the role of monitoring and evaluation at regional and the district levels, giving no chance for such scam.

He said information of E-Zwich cards for all employees are captured on their portal and the payment system which enables them to freeze accounts of exited workers after going through the process given by the agency. However, he acknowledged such allegations and disclosed investigations being pursued whilst ensuring effective monitoring on guard.

“The president Nana Akufo Addo decided to find a way of collapsing the association of unemployed graduates hence the creation of Nabco which received over 160,000 applicants craving for jobs” “100,000 were finally offered jobs after going through interviews and started receiving payments from November ahead of postings”

“The association ceased to exist immediately after Nabco creation and so it has really helped a lot of Ghanaian youth”

“About 30,000 Nabco employees have exited through our 3 main exit plans and it is the president’s vision to find ways of seeing them off by end of this year and arrange for new set”

We are on course, for our achievements, I can say we have achieved 85% of our vision for creating NABCO”, he bragged

According to him, NABCO has aided over 34,000 previously unemployed health professionals who completed schools from 2012 to 2016 to secure permanent jobs after President Akufo Addo freed Ghana from the IMF bailout which imposed an embargo on all government employment.
