APR 9, 2021 LISTEN

The Offinso North District Health Directorate has taken into its second round of vaccination exercise after successful completion of over one thousand jabs to health workers, security officers etc. in the first round.

Over 1,760 doses have been received for the district in the second face according to the directorate.

Director of health services Mr. Richard Avagu disclosed on the Cruz Kokrokoo morning show annex on Thursday, March 8 2021, saying the second face is targeting people with underlying health conditions, 60yrs and above, Teachers 50 yrs and above, Bankers, court officials, and the media as Member of Parliament Hon. Augustine Collins Ntim took his jab on Tuesday at the directorate in Akumadan Offinso North District Capital.

According to Mr. Avagu, out of about 40 covid-19 suspected cases in the district this year, only 1 person tested positive and is currently recovered leaving no active cases. However, the director stressed the need for all to take part in the exercise without fears of any defects arising from the vaccine.

He noted that side effects from the vaccine was never an unsuspecting case to record but is manageable as such reactions also affirm the effectiveness or potency of the drug, urging those who face any adverse effects after a jab to quickly report to a nearby health facility or the frontliners for management as is done in the case of other vaccines such as TB, Yellow Fever, Polio, etc.

“there no vaccine without adverse effect, I personally experienced a headache when I took my jab but it stopped after some few hours and so whoever suffers any side effect after having taken a jab should quickly report to us for treatment” “such reactions also make us know the potency of the vaccine”, Avagu stated.

He said it was very important for the entire district and at large Ghana to be kept safe from the deadly disease by means of vaccination and keep adhering to the safety protocols to guarantee a healthy life and enhancement of economy, thereby appealing to all and sundry to ignore all negativities surrounding the vaccine and visit the designated centers to take their jabs.

The Akumadan health center, AME Zion hospital in Afrancho, Nkenkaaso government hospital is among some centers in the Offinso North District where people could get their jabs from.
