The Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection is thrilled by the recognition of honor bestowed on its Minister Madam Williametta E. Saydee-Tarr by the United States Embassy accredited near Monrovia.
The U.S. Embassy in its March 9, 2021 publication via her social media [Facebook page] described the Gender Minister as an outspoken champion against sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) in Liberia.
"We applaud Minister Saydee-Tarr's leadership and commitment to ending SGBV and supporting vulnerable households during the pandemic", the U.S. Embassy release stated.
According to the the U.S. Embassy, the recognition of Minister Saydee-Tarr is in honor of the U.S. Department of State's #WomenOfCourage.
The Embassy, recounted pivotal role played by Minister Saydee-Tarr in sponsoring the National Call to Action conference in September of 2020 and her erudite leadership role in the current implementation of the Anti-SGBV Roadmap 2020-2022.
In a statement of appreciation, the Gender, Children and Social Protection Minister thanked the U.S. Embassy for the honor bestowed on her.
"Though it's my face on this - it is actually my boss’ [the Feminist-In-Chief H.E. Dr. George Manneh Weah] serious political will, his leadership and his support for us his lieutenants in our assignments; he has entrusted us and allowed us the space to work", Minister Tarr stated.
"I share this recognition with all sexual and gender-based violence victims and survivors on whose behalf we as a Ministry exist. Particularly, I'm thankful for the unending supports from National and International partners as well as like-minded women rights advocates and our He4She for supporting and putting arms around us, our work will continue to be impactful and our goals will be achievable", the Gender Minister expressed.
Minister Williametta E. Saydee-Tarr extolled her Team at Gender for the collective work they do in curbing sexual and gender-based violence evidenced by the recognition from the U.S. Embassy.
