There's no Better Time to Act Than Now

A nation's position on issues and policies is best expressed in its laws and statutes than in press releases from the presidency.

Beyond the press statements, should be clear, unambiguous legal framework in our constitution about our position against LGBT.

The citizenry as well as the world must know our uncompromising position on the issue of LGBT in the constitution.

Aside this, anything else is the usual Ghanaian noise making about issues which dies out when the next issue arises.

There's no better time to conclusively deal with this issue than now. It has been long overdue and they are increasing numerically as well as in influence and support.

If we think we are dealing with some few youth who wants unbridled license to satiate their inordinate sexual desires, then we've not been paying attention.

We are far behind them in their agenda. These people are organized, well resourced (financially) and strongly backed by people of influence both locally and internationally.

We as a people, both by culture and religious beliefs do not accept LGBT. It's an uncompromising stand.

On the other hand, there should be a way of helping and restoring our brothers and sisters who through whatever influence have found themselves in this "abnormal" unacceptable behavior to normalcy. An office can be set up for counselling and reorientation as Lawyer Moses Foh Amoaning is doing. This is because most of these people are doing it because they were abused during childhood, ignorantly (unwillingly) introduced to it by a senior at SHS or are even doing it for money.

Some have also been told right from childhood that they look and act like the opposite sex which they have accepted and are now "living" so.

There should be a way of helping these people live a straight life after it has been illegalized else it will be like any other illegal act (prostitution, smoking marijuana etc.) which we all know still goes on.
