ModernGhana News can report that the office of the LGBT+ Rights Ghana has been located and raided by the National Security operatives.
This took place today Wednesday, February 24.
The Twitter page of the LGBT+ Rights Ghana has announced the raid of its office located on Sapele Ln, Accra.
The action this morning follows the massive calls from all corridors of life to shut down the office of the LGBT+ Rights Ghana amidst wide condemnation by some influential persons and Civil Society Organisations.
Ghanaians on social media argue that LGBT is against the deep-rooted cultural and tradition of the land. And those familiar with the laws of the country say section 104 of the Criminal Code frowns on the activities of LGBT.
But members of the LGBT+ Rights Ghana is calling on all human rights organizations and allies to speak against what it describes as "numerous attacks and hate crimes" they are being subjected to.
"This morning, our office was raided by National Security. A few days ago, traditional leaders threatened to burn down our office but the police did not help.
"At this moment, we no longer have access to our safe space and our safety is being threatened. We call on all human rights organizations, and allies to speak out against these attacks and hate crimes we are being subjected to," the group stated on Twitter.
