Why are you quiet when your MPs are denying us government support? - TEIN member quizzes TESCON

A member of the communication team for Kpandai Constituency and also a Communication Officer Hopeful for TEIN - UEW, Mr. Musah Ibn Wahid has queried the Tertiary Education Students Confederacy of New Patriotic Party (TESCON) Executives why they are too quiet over the terrible abortion of such a favorable intervention proposed by Hon. Mahama Ayariga.

Musah Ibn Wahid posted on his Facebook wall "are you quiet because you are satisfied with the actions of your MPs or you are quite because your MPs won't listen to you ?"

He added "I expected the TESCON students to whisper to their own MPs for them to understand how favorable the intervention could be to students and their parents.

I am equally a student in the tertiary institution and I was thrown into a pool of shock when I heard the NPP MPs just voted in parliament against the Government supporting us in the paying of our school fees for this academic year due to the COVID 19 pandemic."

Few days ago, The Member of Parliament for Bawku Central, Mahama Ayariga has petitioned the Speaker of Parliament to move a motion that will disallow the payment of fees for fresh and continuing students in tertiary institutions in the country for the 2021 academic year.

In his petition, the MP is seeking prior legislative approval pursuant to Order 50 (1) to have the fees halted as a result of the ravaging impact of the COVID-19 outbreak.

Citing the loss of jobs and economic instability brought on by the pandemic, the legislator who described his petition as a “condition of urgent public importance”, expressed worry over the decision by tertiary institutions to have both freshly admitted and continuing students pay their fees before they are allowed to access teaching and learning facilities for the academic year.

However, the NPP MPs who are the majority group in parliament has finally succeed in voting against the proposal.
