NOV 22, 2020 LISTEN

On December 7, 2020, Ghanaians will be voting for the next President of the Republic into power. The contest is clearly for NDC's tried and tested President John Dramani Mahama of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and Akuffo-Addo and Family and not the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

As a highlight to fellow Ghanaians - Ghana appears to be ruled by the President and his close family clique. Experienced NPP core members have had no place in his government. NPP foot soldiers feel very ignored and sidelined. The President’s 2016 campaign promises were not kept and it's not possible to keep the 2020 promises either. His major trump card, the SHS initiative, can use tremendous improvements. We should never again accept half- baked promises from any political party. No, Ghana First!

Likewise, how many Districts in Ghana have actually seen a factory built by this family-based administration? This is another key strategic priority of the President and a campaign promise he could not keep. A big joke, isn’t it? Fellow Ghanaians, let us wake up and be true to ourselves. If you do not see a factory in your district that employs the youth and improves the standard of living of the citizens of your District, VOTE HIM OUT! Yes we can!

It is time to turn over our government affairs to a credible political party, NDC (the People’s Party), and not leave the President and his family to make promises they cannot keep. Fellow Ghanaians, let’s ‘shake it off’!

As an individual, I respect the President dearly. In fact, I like him (... but I like Ghana more). Unfortunately, his administration looks nothing like a representative government.

This submission only seeks to call out points of interest to Ghanaians and to encourage everyone, from all parties, to vote NDC where the face of government truly looks like ‘the people’s party’.

Looking back in the last few years, no administration has added to the infrastructure of Ghana like NDC led governments and former President Mahama have.

Before I go into listing President Mahama’s convincing achievements, given the events of the last few days, let me take a moment to acknowledge the late President Jerry John Rawlings, affectionately known as J. J. Rawlings, and Papa J, who played vital roles in the NDC, notably as the Founder of the party and a two-term President of the Republic of Ghana.

The nation takes a moment to pause and acknowledge His Excellency Jerry John Rawlings for his undeniable contribution to Ghana’s young democracy. The soul of our nation has experienced a very sad blow and big loss. We mourn the loss of an extraordinary son of Ghana. May his soul rest in perfect peace.

Indeed, honoring the Late President Rawlings requires a visit down memory lanes of 1979 and 1981. The fearless, bold, and daring young Flight Lieutenant of the Ghana Armed Forces made a connection between the economic spread and existing inequalities against ‘WE THE PEOPLE’’.

Along with his comrades, J. J. Rawlings sought to correct the dogma of brutal corruption and political injustice committed against powerless ordinary Ghanaians- “We The People”, in the majority. The events that took place through profound and consequential uprisings in 1979, and 1981 were inevitable.

Shortly after Flight Lieutenant J.J. Rawlings came to power, however, he was met with multiplicity of ideologies and social patterns under which he would soon learn that moving the nation forward to prosperity would require embracing democracy.

In J. J. Rawlings’ quest to embrace democracy, which he admirably did, he later teamed up with civilians (a mix of Nkrumahists, Progressives, and many from all corners of Ghana) to start the National Democratic Congress (NDC) as it’s Founder and moved on subsequently to win two consecutive elections.

Ghana has since been ruled by both the NDC and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) with noteworthy peaceful transitions of power from one administration to an opposition political party, a testament of President Rawlings' commitment to democracy.

I acknowledge that there are other views and different feelings about J. J. Rawlings during his young military days. To those who have grievances, and rightfully so, I understand because mistakes were made. May I take this opportunity to humbly apologize on their behalf for the military operations against those they perceived then to be their enemies during their young military days? May I further ask the nation to take the time to pray for healing?

As a civilian, however, President J. J. Rawlings’ contribution and provision to and for Ghana within the country and internationally, to which Ghanaians across all political parties celebrate and enjoy today, are undeniable. For the sake of Mother Ghana, these accomplishments are worth celebrating for generations to come. May our good Lord remain our only judge, and carry us all forward, improving our relationships as children of one country, Mother Ghana.

In the last few years no administration has added to the infrastructure of Ghana like the NDC and President Mahama have. Noteworthy accomplishments include, HEALTH, in which President Mahama invested massively. Under his watch, the Ridge hospital was transformed into the Greater Accra Regional hospital. The Legon hospital was expanded and strengthened. The National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) was placed within the reach of those who needed the services under it.

On EDUCATION he constructed nearly two thousand projects for basic schools and funded logistics for schools and even proceeding with plans for a progressive free SHS path.

On ENERGY President Mahama acknowledged the failure of the nation to meet its generating capacity and moved to add more megawatts units to increase capacity to support the high consumption patterns and to make light available for households and businesses across the nation.

Under this energy for all program, the NDC successfully connected nearly three thousand communities to the national grid summing up to nearly 80% of Ghanaians connected to the national grid.

On CORRUPTION, President Mahama’s administration investigated corruption allegations more than any government has ever done in the history of our nation. He did very well to remedy the complaints that gave rise to most of the investigated cases.

Fellow Ghanaians, a close look at our national infrastructure and modernization efforts clearly reveals that with the exception of the earlier infrastructure built by Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, NDC related administrations have been the only ones who have added to and modernized Ghana’s aging infrastructures.

While President Mahama and his NDC administration are poised to complete every viable project initiated by previous administrations credibly geared toward improving our nation’s development goals, they would further complete the sustainable development projects they initiated that were halted by the current administration for no reason at all.

The NDC can better be trusted to handle the affairs of government and ensure that our nation’s funds are not wasted on political priorities as opposed to national priorities for “We the People”.

Finally, President Mahama and NDC have always acknowledged, and continue to do so, that political opponents are not enemies, and seek to sustain and improve unity between Ghanaians, and to further ensure that “WE THE PEOPLE” are reminded that we are all Ghanaians, and “We the People” are assured of sustainable continuum in which equitable distribution of our national wealth, and participation in the decision making process are prime.

PRESIDENT MAHAMA SHARES OUR VALUES.

The NDC is better positioned to build a more efficient and functional government, the likes of which are enjoyed in developed nations. We will use robust technologies and functional expertise to integrate and interoperate functions of government that would increase efficiency, quality, productivity and truly increase services to citizens exponentially. NDC’s approach to enabling information flow across government is robust, enhanced, and distributed.

Fellow Ghanaians, the NDC's progressive efforts are the only pragmatic path that will surely gravitate our nation toward the status of a developed nation’ in our lifetime.

Ghanaians are ready to give President Mahama the mandate to lead our nation again to continue his transformative initiatives for our dear country.

“WE THE PEOPLE” continue to look up to the leadership of NDC to keep Ghanaians together, reach out to the opposition to find common grounds, work to continue to develop our nation, and to do so TOGETHER!

Lastly, I would remind Ghanaians that this election is between the NDC and the “Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo and Family Party (NADAFP) “, not with NPP. Vote for a true national party, the NDC, and not for “NADAFP”.

Ghana is ready for President Mahama and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) on December 7, 2020. LET US MAKE IT HAPPEN! Yes we can!
