You Can't Sack A Woman For Not Giving You Children In A Marriage

And Still Lament About Her Failures In Your New Marriage.
You Can't Sack A Woman For Not Giving You Children In A Marriage

The questions that must interest us to ask our politicians are many, but we often don't ask them any. We rather listen to them tell us what they have done, when we sometimes find it difficult to see their claims of having achieved this or that on the grounds . For instance, the NPP through the vice president said they're bringing drones to facility quick and quality health services delivery. They also said every Ghanaian within a year's period in their coming to power will have a bank account. If you have a ward in any college of education or nursing training school, ask him or her how many times they have received their so called promised allowances. In fact, you know what they said in both their manifesto and campaign promises before coming to power better than me and I don't need o waste my space and time counting them here again.

Their archrivals, the NDC made similar many promises before winning the 2012 elections. Though that winning in itself was fraught with issues known to many of us reading through, it wasn't the bane to their inability to execute what they promised in their manifesto or even campaign promises. Where are the 200 schools the NDC promised to build? Where is the one time premium health insurance cover for Ghanaians? You know what they said before and not mentioning same doesn't mean I or many Ghanaians have soon forgotten them. I need space and time to proceed.

The questions to ask are many but these are few of them : What has come out of these empty campaigns promises? What have they done to improve what they each complained about while in opposition? When do we expect these things to be done especially with the current government in power? Is their taking over political power justifiable enough to vote for any of them again?, etc. These are the few questions we should be asking any political party that came to power before or is still in power. They must be providing citizens with the appropriate answers. This will tell us why they need to either come back and continue or be retained for four more years as the situation at hand now.

I however sometimes find it very strange as I become befuddled to have a sitting government not telling us these things but rather attacking a government that was kicked out because, we the citizens might have been convinced they didn't do anything and needed to be voted out to pave way for a better chance to develop the country. Sitting governments shouldn't be worried about parties in opposition. They should rather tell their success story to us and stop the blame game. The party in opposition is only struggling for better ideas to stage a come back.

The propaganda in this country is too much that, when nothing is being done, yet we have the pervasive ranting of parties' communicators daily and all in an attempt to lie about the good works of their pay masters. This they usually passionately do just for their butter and bread to keep coming daily and readily. If you only listen to these sweet - talks communicators, you wouldn't see the harm they cause to our development. Their parochial interest is to fill their political empty stomachs.

I have always said that, when you come to power and have done well enough, the good work is out there to speak for you and you don't really need any communicators to do that for you. The money paid to these communicators could always have been used to do more projects to develop the country. Just sit down and count the number of these so called communicators across the country with how much money is spent on their work and you will come to understand my point without any struggles. They drive to radio and TV stations daily to defend their party and government in power accordingly. They buy air time for them to call in into media houses to do same thing. They pay them stipends monthly. They get vehicles and motors plus free fuel regularly. Now question is, have you ever paused to ask yourself where the government gets money to do all these things just for people to defend it? It's our money! The taxes you and I pay is mismanaged and wantonly wasted like that and we must be worried.

We do have the proclivity to condemn and blame a party, that was already voted out for lack of doing what it was voted to come and get done. We usually make it sound as if our own promises of solving the many problems we saw and wanted to come and correct to be impossible without complaining about the other government that the citizens kicked out. And we keep doing the same thing over and over again. What is the relevance in telling us how incompetent and corrupt NDC and JM had been in office, when that's why we voted them out? So, do what you promised you will come and do and forget JM's incompetency. We're tired to hear all that. Just tell us what makes you different which we can't see in you or in your style of governance.

We will remain where we are now, if we fail to ask these questions. We feel after all, our government is in power and whether it's doing great or not, we must extol it to put it in power. We see the situation where people have the eyes and mouths to see and talk about certain things in the country, when some people are in government, but will suddenly turn deaf and dumb when other people are in power and doing worse things. If this is not political hypocrisy then the word has never existed.

As citizens, it's our mandate to do fair and balanced criticism on our political setting to help each government that comes to power. It doesn't do any government good, if we choose to treat it with golden gloves, when in fact, we see clearly that, things aren't what they should be. For example, the free education policy is one very good thing this government has brought to the country. However, is it achieving or set to achieve the ultimate goals in the future? Is our educational system going to be better with the kind of grades students send to our Senior High Schools? Hasn't our educational standards being compromised? We must open up and point out these issues without any political inclinations. That's what makes us good citizens, who want the development of our country and its people in every aspect.

The idea that, my government, my government but not my country, my country isn't the best for the development of the country and we must start thinking as a people but not as a party. Nkrumah, the visionary leader always thought of us as a people having a common sense and purpose of developing our own country. That's why he achieved a lot for Ghana but not for CPP or individuals. Today, he would weep blood if he comes back to see the state of the country he singled handedly propelled to independence. I don't need any unhealthy debate on the question of his singly handedly bringing independence to us. Enough is know about how some people wanted it delayed for reasons only known to them. And such people or their cronies would have none of what we know as the historical facts.

Sincerely speaking, this COVID -19 wouldn't allow some of us to assess the real achievements of this NPP government enough. Others may still argue that, it's all part of handling governance and even go a step further to add that, the NDC was also faced with Ebola. However, apart from the fatal severity in the two situations being incomparable, the economic crisis they both brought to bear are equally significant to make one overweights the other and I will always choose the former any day.

However, it can't take away our sense of judgement on the level of corruption perceptions we hold for the two governments. The NDC had engaged in many corrupt related incidents and we know them too well. The NPP complained and succeeded in tagging JM as corrupt and incompetent president ever. We saw the level of lawlessness and insecurity in this country under the NDC with both late prof. Mills and JM and we can't say it's ever the best. We again saw the nepotism and favouritism as in job offers to family and friends within the NDC government though they have never accepted it. Can't we measure that against the current government and come out with a fair and rational judgement as to who really comes atop in all these scandals in government? I leave that to your conscience since opinions will always vary but one or more may be closer to the reality.

As a people, we must therefore see that, these two governments are not doing anything positive towards the development of this country, though one can't rule out the fact that, they each comes to add something small to the list of developmental achievements in the country. Look! If you ask me, I would say we aren't at where we were supposed to be in terms of our development and what we are blessed with as in natural resources as compared to other countries without these gifts from nature. We are far below that level of comparison and we dare not make a mistake to venture into making such weird arguments to defend ourselves. We have simply failed our poor citizens and if Ghana were to be an organisation, all these greedy and insensitive politicians would have been shown the door to allow for new employees to take over the management of our economy.

Therefore, as citizens, I will urge all of us to start looking for a third force party as our new manager of our economy and to see how things will go. It's not for nothing clubs keep changing their managers in football. I have been told by my frafra friend that, I'm just a ceremonial football supporter. But I think my reasons will hold for the purpose of this argument that, no team will change a well performing manager for any reason. Zidane couldn't have won three straight champion leagues titles and still be sacked or replaced for any better reasons. That would have sounded infantile and weird and begged for answers.

I therefore submit to us to consider bringing back CPP, the party that's been there before and knows what it takes to push the agenda for developing the country forward. You may have issues with the current CPP as not being strong enough to lead us out of the woods, but I can tell you it will surprise you what the CPP can do given the chance to rule the very country it birthed with enough passion, care and love and would want to see it grow just as every caring parent would have for a child in life.
