R.I.P, Rev. Dr. MORRIS CERULLO.

Your World Evangelism Mission to West Africa tour held at Labone SHS, Accra in August 1966 did affirm an important religious issue for me. I am hopeful that others will learn from it too to enhance their christian life. The lesson learnt is in line with the biblical teaching that "For lack of knowledge, my people perish (Hosea 4:6)." Note that it does not say lack of prayers.

On the opening day of the five-day program which started in the evening Rev Cerullo arrived and mounted the dais at 6:50pm as the 6th and last speaker that day, when the electricians were still wiring the canopy auditorium. During his speech the lights went off again as it had done twice earlier. The usual prayers, speaking in tongues to bind the possible demons and principalities that are working against the program was the obvious course of action in a Christian gathering like that.

The third was the last one because Rev Cerullo provided the solution to the problem. Well, the main head of mission solving a problem is very much expected, so not newsworthy. However the solution did not come through conjuring of a miracle or providing funding, or through prayers, but rather through physical technical knowledge of electricity that was expected rather from the electricians.

As said earlier the electricians were feverishly completing the wiring of that part of the pavilion as the program progressed while the lights from the completed section lit the whole auditorium. Rev Cerullo then directed that a couple of lights in the rear section be extinguished. If the lights had not gone off when he also mounted the dais, I would have concluded that the light "feared" him, so have comported itself, but that wasn't the case. His knowledge of electricity, however little, saved the night in line with the adage "half loaf is better than none," in this case half light is better than darkness.

Prayers are good and helpful but obviously prayers and miracles should accompany knowledge of our practical life as the management of the unpleasant situation that night by Rev Cerullo shows. As a Truth Advocate researching about truth in Christianity and other religions, I was helped a lot as it supported one of my earlier classified advert in the Mirror that some Christians are so prayer-minded that they would rather have the holy spirit prepare their breakfast while they prayed!

May His Soul Rest In Perfect Peace!
