Put away the cloak of the 'that's how I am' syndrome

I. SON OF MAN, grace be unto you through Christ Jesus' name. Beloved, today I implore you to put away the cloak of the 'that's how I am' pattern. If the characteristics of that’s how I am syndrome remain in us after accepting Jesus Christ as our personal saviour, then our confession is questionable. Brethren, let's break free from the chains of our old selves, as that’s how I am – characteristics of the old Adamic nature. The Bible says, 'Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.' It's time to trade in that old cloak of "That's how I am" for the new garment of Christ Jesus. When we say "That's how I am" to justify our quick tempers, gossip, or hurtful words, we're essentially saying our old nature is in control. 'That's how I am' is not the language of a believer; allow the Holy Spirit to work through you and defeat the old nature in you.

II. DAUGHTER OF ZION instead of responding to someone with a "double portion dosage of insult", let us choose to respond with kindness and forgiveness, like Jesus Christ did when He said, "Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing." Instead of spreading falsehoods, let us speak truth and build others up, as the Bible encourages us: "Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen." Beloved, if we remain stuck in "That's how I am," our confession of Christ is indeed questionable. Let's choose to put on the new nature and walk in the freedom and power of Christ Jesus. As scripture teaches us, "Clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not think about how to gratify the desires of the flesh."

III. MY BELOVED SISTERS, lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds and have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him. Beloved, if we maintain the characteristics of the old nature, then the truth is not in us. Why are we still bragging about the old nature and trumpeting to all that "that's how I am…if you don’t know, go and ask and you shall be told who I am"? This is an anathema, which should not come out of a believer’s mouth. Beloved, let us, as much as possible, do away with the things and pronouncements of this world and demonstrate the new nature through which many will get to know that we are Christians. If we go to church every day and still maintain that’s how I am syndrome, then let us examine ourselves again. We need deliverance from the old nature. For we cannot serve two masters, the old nature and the new nature, at the same time. Let us believers examine who is in control of our lives. The old adamic nature or the new life through Christ Jesus?

IV. MY DEAR BROTHERS, as believers, let these characteristics of our new nature in Christ prevail: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. When we put on this new garment, we'll respond differently to insults, provocations, and temptations. Beloved, let us remember that at Calvary the deal was completed for our freedom; at Calvary our old nature was transformed into His strength, our weakness for His strength, and our inadequacies for His power and all sufficiency; at Calvary 'that's how I am' was nailed to the cross; at Calvary the Father paid the ultimate sacrifice for our redemption. This is a DIVINE NEW DAY PROPHETIC WORD of encouragement sent forth through the authority and power of Christ Jesus and served to the brethren through God's Vessel Francis Ameyibor. Yes! At Calvary the Father extended His love to all. AT CALVARY THE TRANSACTION WAS COMPLETED.

V. 2026 IS OUR YEAR AND SEASON TO BE LIFTED UP—What do you think is holding you back from putting on this new garment?

PRAYER: Lord, strengthen us to overcome the old Adamic nature and walk daily in the power of Christ Jesus through the enabling empowerment of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
