
Now, Damarea Liao, will be the first African to compete in the Miss China Pageant of 2024.
Liao, who is of Asian decent will be competing, despite the large eruption of controversy following the announcement.
Liao is already a contestant in Miss Face of Africa (2024) and Miss Chinees South Carolina, U.S. (2023).
The eighteen-year-old who just began college, is a soccer player and future educator. She is receiving her degree in Primary Education with a strong passion for working with children.
"I have so much to teach, and stories to tell," says Liao who is the speaker of 6 languages including English.
Liao says "It was hard," to ignore the comments and backlash regarding her entrance into the pageant.
Her former high school teachers spoke out congratulating the young woman.
