When Maat - Balance, Harmony, or Cosmic Order - is broken long enough, imbalance eventually manifests physically. ~ Tɔgbɛŋlɔ
Floods are not merely water, Fire is not merely heat. They are among the languages through which nature restores equilibrium.
Every ancient civilization understood that humanity is never separate from creation. The Earth is not an object to conquer but a living system with which we are meant to live in harmony. Our modern civilization has achieved extraordinary technological power, yet in many ways it has forgotten this ancient relationship.
Currently, Africa is enduring devastating floods while Europe experiences unprecedented heatwaves. Around the globe, droughts, wildfires, failing ecosystems, and shifting seasons are becoming increasingly familiar. Science explains these events through climate change and environmental disruption. Many ancestral traditions however interpret them through another lens: as signs that humanity has drifted away from Cosmic Order.
Perhaps these perspectives are not enemies. Perhaps they are two languages describing the same reality.
ALL ANCIENT PATHS REMEMBER
Across continents and across centuries, many ancestral traditions preserved teachings about a period of great transition.
- The Hopi speak of a global "Great Purification" before the emergence of a renewed and peaceful 5th World.
- The Andean wisdom traditions describe great cycles through which humanity passes before restoring right relationship with life.
- In Hindu philosophy, the closing phase of the Kali Yuga represents a period of moral decline before renewal.
- Across Africa, many oral and spiritual traditions like the 'Adagana Prophecy of Return' by the ancient Eʋe ancestors preserve memories that forgotten wisdom will one day awaken again among future generations.
Different peoples, different continents and different languages, yet they all point toward a remarkably similar pattern: humanity forgets, nature responds, and a return becomes possible. Whether understood as literal prophecy, symbolic teaching, or cultural wisdom, their convergence invites reflection.
MODERN HUMANITY FORGOT THE LIVING EARTH
Somewhere along the path of progress, humanity began confusing mastery with wisdom. We extracted more than we restored, we consumed more than we replenished and we measured prosperity by accumulation while neglecting reverence.
- Forests became resources.
- Rivers became infrastructure.
- Mountains became commodities.
In seeking dominion over nature, we gradually forgot that we ourselves are part of nature. When Cosmic Order is neglected long enough, imbalance does not remain invisible. It eventually appears in the physical world.
LONG BEFORE RIVERS AND GUTTERS OVERFLOW, THE HUMAN SPIRIT FORGETS BALANCE
Within my ongoing project relating to the reconstruction of the Adagana tradition, there's what is described as "The Prophecy of Return".
The Return is not primarily about geography - it is about consciousness.
- It is the return of sacred memory.
- The return of living language.
- The return of harmony between humanity and creation.
According to this understanding, the greatest exile was never from a homeland. Instead, it was from ourselves. Civilizations lose their ancestral memory long before they lose their land.
The Return begins when remembrance awakens.
IMBALANCE ALWAYS SEEKS EQUILIBRIUM
Nature is neither cruel nor sentimental, She is balanced.
- The human body heals itself.
- A forest regenerates after fire.
- A river finds a new course when blocked.
- The Earth also seeks equilibrium.
This is what I describe as The Harmonic Reset. It is not merely an environmental correction. It is an invitation to restore harmony before imbalance demands a harsher response.
The question is not whether correction will come. The question is whether humanity will participate consciously in that restoration.
MAAT, HARMONY, AND COSMIC ORDER ARE UNIVERSAL PRINCIPLES
Our ancestors in ancient Kemet called it Maat. Other civilizations spoke of sacred balance, right relationship, or the natural law that sustains life. The names differ, yet the principle remains remarkably consistent.
When societies abandon truth, justice, reverence, and balance, the consequences eventually become visible in communities, in institutions, and in the natural world itself.
The Harmonic Reset is therefore not simply about the climate.
- It is about civilization.
- It is about consciousness.
It is about whether we can rediscover wisdom before crisis becomes our greatest teacher.
A CHOICE BEFORE US
Perhaps, the greatest misunderstanding is that ancient prophecies were only about the end of the world. What if they were pointing instead to the end of a way of living?
- The end of separation.
- The end of exploitation masquerading as progress.
- The end of forgetting.
- The beginning of remembrance.
As the waters rise and the fires spread, the greatest question is not whether the Earth is changing - it is whether we are willing to change with her.
The Harmonic Reset begins not with fear, but with remembrance. Not with domination, but with stewardship. Not with despair, but with awakening. The choice before us is not between science and spirituality. It is between continued disharmony and a renewed covenant with the living cosmos.
May humanity choose harmony before harmony is chosen for us.
