Government says it will add 200 megawatts of solar power to Ghana's national grid as part of efforts to expand the country's renewable energy mix.

The decision follows Cabinet approval for the Energy Ministry to accelerate solar integration, aimed at ensuring a more sustainable and reliable electricity supply.

Speaking at the Government Accountability Series, Minister of State for Climate Change and Sustainability, Seidu Issifu, said the project is being treated with urgency and government expects visible results soon.

The initiative forms part of Ghana's broader strategy to reduce dependence on fossil fuels and increase clean energy adoption across the country.
