Italy's most powerful mafia left behind an unusual legacy. Hundreds of roaming cows still terrorize parts of the Calabria region.

For years, the 'Ndrangheta mafia used cattle and agriculture to control land and assert their power in southern Italy. Today, many of those animals roam free, damaging crops, destroying fences, and they're often deliberately used as a means of intimidation. Farms and fields have been left abandoned, and a lot of young people are moving away. No one wants to take over the land. Despite the fear, some people are creating initiatives like "No Bull Citizens." They hope to persuade the state to take action.
