CPP flagbearer promises 'Government for Your Doorstep' to bring governance closer to the people

Flagbearer of the Convention People's Party (CPP), Nana Akosua Frimpomaa Sarpong Kumankumah, has outlined her vision for a more accessible and inclusive governance system in Ghana.

She emphasized the party's commitment to addressing the needs of Ghanaians by bringing government closer to the people through a transformative initiative dubbed the 'Government For Your Doorstep Programme.'

In an interview with JoyNews, Sarpong Kumankumah explained that the initiative aims to move away from the traditional top-down approach to governance, providing citizens with direct access to government officials and services.

“I will initiate a 'Government For Your Doorstep Programme', where you can walk to your government sector and make complaints.

“You can say your mind and anything that bothers you. The people can walk there and have access to governance. Government of the people, by the people, and for the people. That democracy is what we are bringing to the people,” she stated.

While acknowledging Ghana’s strong decentralization framework, she stressed that it has not been fully realized, and the new programme would ensure greater citizen participation and accountability in governance.

Beyond this, the CPP flagbearer addressed the party’s commitment to youth development, focusing on key challenges like unemployment and economic struggles.

She reaffirmed that the CPP is dedicated to creating opportunities for young Ghanaians, who she described as the future of the nation.

“For us in the CPP, we believe in the youth of this nation, and Ghana must work to justify the struggles our fathers went through.

“The level of frustration in this country is too much. The Ghanaian youth are struggling. Our government will bring ownership to the youth, to Ghanaians,” she added.

Sarpong Kumankumah also criticized the low wages of National Service personnel saying, “National Service they are paying them less than 2,000 cedis. CPP is committed to help the youth of Ghana. They are the future. Our government will bring ownership to the youth, to Ghanaians.”
