Covid-19: Ghana's Recovery Rate Encouraging - Dr Kuma-Aboagye

Dr Kuma-Aboagye said about 130 patients were awaiting their second positive tests to be declared the full recovery of the virus, compared to other countries who normally conducts only one test of positive cases.

The Director-General made the remarks in response to a question about the home management of COVID-19 patients during the press briefing on updates of cases in the country.

Covid-19: G20 Must Ban Wildlife Trade To Protect Animals

Ms Lucy Wanjiku Otsyula, the Head of Communications at WAP new research, seemed to suggest that coronavirus might have come from wild animals.

The statement said a campaign had therefore been outdoored to protect wildlife and prevent future zoonotic pandemics.

COVID-19: Our Case Fatality Rate Of 0.43% The Best Globally - Dr Badu Sakordie

The 22 deaths out of the total of 5,127 cases recorded in the country, represent a case fatality rate of 0.43 per cent, describing it as one of the best among countries.

Ghana's fatality rate of 0.43 was being attributed to two major functions, namely “the quality of care” and “how early people report with the condition when they have it”, Dr Sarkodie explained.

Children Face Risk For Severe Complications And Death From COVID-19

Children, teens, and young adults are at greater risk for severe complications from COVID-19 than previously thought and those with underlying health conditions are at even greater risk, according to a study co-authored by a Rutgers researcher.

The study, published in JAMA Pediatrics, is the first to describe the characteristics of seriously ill pediatric COVID-19 patients in North America.

Fear Hit Apam As Over 40 Contacts Traced To Escaped COVID-19 Patient Quarantined

The man has since been arrested and repatriated to Jama with more than 40 people he came into contact with have so far been traced and are currently in quarantine at a facility in Apam.

Nana Bonsu Appiah, Apam Chief Fisherman who was instrumental in the arrest of the man told the GNA in an interview that the young man confessed having the virus and was in contact with more than 40 people including; those he met in drinking spots, taxis, food vendors and women he befriended.

Information Minister Kojo Oppong Nkrumah has said these places included offices, market places, factories, lorry parks, and bus terminals, supermarkets, and fuel stations.

He, therefore, called on all authorities at workplaces to insist on adherence to all the safety measures and hygiene protocols of especially, disinfection of surfaces, doorknobs, washrooms, as well as insisting on the wearing of nose masks and creating of spaces for social distancing.

Diamond League athletics circuit reconfigured in wake of coronavirus

Organisers of the international athletics circuit on Tuesday attempted to salvage their coronavirus ravaged season with the announcement of the 2020 Diamond League programme.

The first of the meetings featuring 16 track and field events was scheduled to start in Qatar on 17 April. But the gathering in Doha was postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic. It has been reset for 9 October.

COVID-19: Pioneer Food Cannery Where Over 500 Workers Got Infected Confirms

A fish processing company, Pioneer Food Cannery has confirmed that a member of its staff tested positive for coronavirus following government’s announcement that over 500 workers in a factory at Tema had been infected after one worker contracted the disease.

The Tema-based company in a statement said, as soon as the first case was confirmed, it temporarily closed down the factory for disinfection and cleaning while staff were made to the self-quarantine with contact tracing starting immediately.
