Nyinahini SHS assault: Court strikes out case, urges reconciliation
The Toase District Court has struck out the assault case involving a teacher and a student of Nyinahin Catholic Senior High School and advised the parties to pursue an amicable settlement.
The case arose after a viral video showed a teacher, Eric Buenortey Akpafio, physically assaulting an 18-year-old female student on the school's campus.

Following the circulation of the video, the Ashanti Regional Police Command arrested the 39-year-old teacher on June 8.
According to the police, preliminary investigations established that the suspect, who serves as a caretaker of the school's hostel, confronted the student and some male students over alleged misconduct at the hostel.
Police said a misunderstanding ensued during the confrontation, leading to the assault of the student.
The incident reportedly angered some students, who pelted stones at the teacher and invited some youth from the town to the school in an attempt to attack him before police intervened to restore calm.
A medical report form was subsequently issued to the victim, while the suspect was detained to assist with investigations.
