Wa Circuit Court sentences teenager to 20years for robbery
A 19-year-old man, Adams Hamidu, popularly known as Gyida, has been sentenced to 20 years in prison with hard labour after being convicted of robbery by the Wa Circuit Court.
The conviction, delivered on Thursday, June 5, 2025, follows a case presented by prosecutors from the Upper West Regional Police Command. The court found Hamidu guilty of participating in a violent robbery earlier this year.

Hamidu’s arrest came months later, on Saturday, June 1, during a targeted police operation in Domowa, located in the Wa West District. The operation was carried out based on actionable intelligence.
In response to the sentencing, the Upper West Regional Police Command praised the outcome as a significant step in the fight against violent crimes across the region.
The Command reiterated its ongoing commitment to public safety and assured residents of continued efforts to bring offenders to justice.
