Ghana Wheelchair Tennis prepares for Double ITF International Tournaments

The Ghana Wheelchair Tennis Team have for the past two weeks been camping for two impending ITF Tournaments namely 2020 Nairobi Open and 2020 PNB Paribas World Cup Team Africa Qualifiers slated from February 10-12, 2020 and 12th - 15th Feb 2020 in Nairobi, Kenya respectively,

The team made up of two males (Abdul Razak Nuhu and Daniel Laryea) and two females (Bridget Nartey and Stacy Konadu Mensah) commenced intensive training on Monday 20th January 2020 at the National Tennis Center, Accra under the technical guidance of coach Philip Plange.

Speaking to ghanatennis.org coordinator of Ghana wheelchair Tennis Henry Larbi said, ‘The residential campaign has made the players train on a daily basis to fine-tune for the tournament”.

“The team is expected to depart for Kenya on Sunday, February 9 to compete in the continental championship. Among the participating countries are the hosts Kenya, Tunisia, Egypt, Morocco, Algeria, Nigeria and Cameroon,” Mr Larbi added.

On Tuesday 4th February 2020 the wheelchair tennis team's morale was boosted as they received ITF UNIQLO Wheelchair Tennis kits for the tournament from the National Coordinator of Ghana Wheelchair Tennis.

The entry fees and air tickets of Team Ghana is fully funded by the ITF Wheelchair Tennis Development Fund while the team's 2-week training was funded by Ghana Wheelchair Tennis.
