Mutual Agreement: EU Wants To Enable British People To Travel Without Visa After Brexit

Brussels: The EU states want to allow British citizens after the Brexit visa-free entry. This was agreed by the ambassadors of the 27 remaining EU states in Brussels.

An agreement should now be reached with the European Parliament so that the regulation could enter into force after the United Kingdom's exit from the EU. It should be valid for stays of up to 90 days.

The British government has already signalled that it does not want to require visas for EU citizens on shorter stays. However, should the United Kingdom impose a visa requirement on citizens of individual EU countries, the EU institutions and the other Member States are ready to react swiftly, it said.

The United Kingdom does not belong to the border control Schengen area in Europe, entry is already controlled. For German citizens so far an identity card was required.
