WordDigest: Developing a good relationship with God (28) Put away any god

" Then Samuel spoke to all the house of Israel, saying, “If you return to the Lord with all your hearts, then put away the foreign gods and the Ashtoreths from among you, and prepare your hearts for the Lord, and serve Him only; and He will deliver you from the hand of the Philistines.”

[1 Samuel 7:3]
NKJV
Can you serve two masters at the same time?
Even if you can, the love for one would be more intense than the other.

The people [Israelites ] served a god called Ashtoreth aside God.

The symbol for Ashtoreth was Asherah.
So God has to alert Samuel for His people to be delivered from that idolatrous worship.

You can't serve God and still believe in a foreign god.

For God has no rival.
Anything thing you believe, trust and does not make you serve God can be a foreign god.

Think about it.
Today do away with any kind of a god in your life.
Let God alone be your God forever in Jesus' name, Amen.

God bless you.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, you alone is God of the universe. You are the Lord of my life in Jesus mighty name of Nazareth, Amen .
