Word Digest : Flee From Sin

Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

[James 4:7] NIV
James opens the verse with a very thoughtful word 'submit'. To submit means to accept that someone or something has defeated you or a way of behaving which is morally wrong according to religious rule or law.

Are you to submit to God or sin? In the wisdom of this scripture, the Holy Spirit expects you to humble, commit and devote your life to learning and practise of good conducts so that none is consumed by and for sin.

Sin has the power to destroy and even make one's life meaningless and useless. Sin can be as infectious and deadly as a disease.

When one commits a sin, he or she fall short of the glory of God. "For all have sinned, and fallen short of the glory of God" Romans 3:23

Abstaining from sin requires doing what is morally accepted in it entirety.

Fleeing from evil or sin will make one resist the devil completely. God bless you for reading and sharing.

Prayer
Everlasting Father in heaven, give us strength to overcome sin in it entirety in Jesus might name, Amen.
