La Beach generates more income during holidays

Accra Jan. 3, GNA - Mr. Rashid Boi-Nai, Coordinator of Operations at the La Pleasure Beach on Monday said there was a considerable increase in patronage at the beach on holidays as compared to ordinary weekends. He said on a normal weekend there are about 1000 to 1200 people at the beach but on holidays there are about 2000 to 4000 people at the beach.

Mr. Boi-Nai speaking to the GNA on the New Year holiday said, " we benefit from holidays as a lot of people come in here to spend their holiday. We mostly organize musical show to entertain the people". Commenting on the development of beaches in the country, he said the development of a beach was capital intensive and urged the government, the Ministry of Tourism and their developing partners to come up with strategies for developing all beaches in the country. Mr. Boi-Nai also mentioned that the beach has now strengthened security to ensure that all people coming to the beach pay the required gate fees.

Nii Obour Fred Afful, Supervising Administrator confirmed that there was extra increase in patronage at the beach on all holidays. "Apart from the Farmers Day, a lot of people come to the beach on New Year's day, Easter Monday and Boxing day," he said. Drinks at the beach are sold at almost doubled the price in town. Most of the holiday makers GNA spoke to said they were at the beach to relax after a year's hard work.
