Burkina protesters set fire to parliament

Ouagadougou (AFP) - Angry demonstrators in Burkina Faso set fire to parliament in the capital Ouagadougou on Thursday after ransacking the building in protest at plans to change the constitution to allow President Blaise Compaore to extend his 27-year rule.

Hundreds of people also stormed the national television building nearby, shortly before lawmakers were due to vote on the controversial legislation, AFP correspondents said.
