WATCH THIS BAD PRACTICE

I am a regular traveler down north for business and want to draw the attention of the Police, GPRTU and road safety commission to a bad practice I have noticed on my bus journeys.

The new buses plying the Accra to Tamale, Bolga and Bawku route has certainly brought a lot of comfort to passengers. However, a frightening practice is the use of only driver on these journeys. I do not understand why only one bus driver should be used to drive passengers from Accra to as far as Bawku at night; a journey of close to fifteen hours.

I have in many of these journeys sought to get explanations as to why this is the practice but as always in Ghana, I have been labeled as being too known.

I am using this medium to urge the GPRTU and other transport owners; especially those who ply long journeys to the north at night( mainly located at Avenor) to please stop this practice for the safety of their passengers. I also urge the police to help check this practice by making use of the police checks after Kumasi, to ensure every bus has a spare driver.

Let us not sit for disasters to happen before we begin talking as usual. Thank you.

Yours sincerely,
